An Arab-coalition airstrike in Yemen has killed over 150 rebels near the port city of Hodeidah. The airstrike was confirmed by the spokesman for the Saudi-led forces operational in Yemen against the Houthi rebels.
Military sources hold that a missile and bomb attack hit a Houthi training camp. The training camp is said to have been in operation for a while and has been used to train rebels as a well as launch attack against the internationally recognized government. A Saudi-led coalition allied with the government has been fighting the Iranian-aligned Houthis since 2015.
Yemen’s conflict began in 2014 when Houthi Shia rebels toppled its internationally-recognized government and took over the capital of Sanaa.
Houthi rebels and the Yemeni government have battled on and off since 2004, but much of the fighting was confined to the impoverished northern Saada province, a Houthi stronghold.
