Kenya has suffered more than a dozen terrorist attacks in the first quarter of year 2014, with the latest attack coming on the 4th day of May, christened the Thika Road Blasts .
The success of terrorists in Kenya is worrying and it only confirms that the country lacks a working anti-terror strategy.
Experts in intelligence including US State Department have complained that Kenya lacks both experts and resources to tackle terror or maybe the country is not committed to fight terrorism.
Kenya Lacks Anti Terror Strategy Experts
Studying the cycle of terrorists is very important in formulating working anti-terror strategies.
Kenya has proved that its intelligence service lacks experts in anti-terrorism. It is indeed unacceptable to suffer dozens of terror attacks if indeed there are intelligence officers who are knowledgeable in this field. If they are there, they could have pre-empted these threats.
Solutions to Terrorism and Related Attacks
Strategic Intelligence has offered free predictive analysis on terrorism and strategic intelligence. The readily available free and simple intelligence solutions to insecurity maybe ignored for coming from a body that works online and not recognized by state agencies.
This is the downside of Kenyan security. There is that belief etched in the minds of those within security ministry ranks, that outsourcing security intelligence services may weaken the identity and credibility of government agencies.
However, these gaps will continue to hurt the security ministry as lapses and failure to pay attention to seamless and simple vital intelligence solutions to insecurity continue to remain significantly present.
Anti-Terror Strategy to preempt cases like the Thika Road Blast
Stopping terrorism starts with detecting triggers to terrorism. If suspected terrorist groups are under threat, or they are facing irrelevance, terrorists are likely to launch attacks on the perceived enemy.
Identifying targets of terrorists requires analyzing previous terror trends, their speeches, threats, and activities.
This allows surveillance on terrorist cells, who they call, and who they call calls. In simplicity, intelligence services can identify terrorist’s cells, their associates, and most importantly, their activities and plans to thwart threats on security.
