The Kenya Defence Forces military strength is a force to reckon with as seen in their operations in the country and in the on-going war against the Al Shabaab militia group in Somalia.
The airstrikes, naval operation and land force control of these forces have brought back stability in Somalia as compared to 2011 when the troops first conducted their operation against the Al Shabaab in Somalia.
Kenya boasts of 24,000 active front-line military officers, 5,000 active Reserve officers. These troops have been armed with and several tanks. The military also has armored fighting vehicles, 127 total aircrafts, 66 helicopters, 14 crafts on her maritime zone just to mention the least.
According to the GPF 2015 ranking, the top 11 African countries with strong Military Power are; Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya (Kenya Defence Forces), Angola, Niger then Uganda.
Other Kenya Defense Forces military assets include the Jasiri naval ship, long range surface to surface missiles (SSM) and surface to air missiles (SAM) which have strengthened the military capability in conducting its operations.
