Latest security reports from Morocco indicate that police over the weekend arrested three Islamic State (ISIS) suspects in the northern city of Tetouan.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the suspects had been planning to carry out terrorist attacks against sensitive locations in Morocco by using remote controlled explosives (IEDs), adding that they were also planning to assassinate key security officials.
Initial investigations revealed the commander of this cell is an expert in making remote controlled explosives, and started preparation along with his partners, to buy materials used in manufacturing explosives.
The Ministry further noted that the police seized electronic equipment and devices likely to be used in remote detonation systems.
The North African kingdom has seen a growing threat from terror groups, especially ISIS.
