Residents of Halane in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu received a free medical clinic that was organized by Ugandan troops serving under AMISOM mandate in Somalia.
The free medical camp is part of Ugandan troops’ celebrations to celebrate Uganda’s National Resistance Army 38th anniversary and reminder of the struggle that brought a new government to power in 1986.
The celebration known as ‘Tarehe Sita’, Uganda marks this day on February 6 every year.
To celebrate this day Ugandan troops organized this camp to offer free medical treatment to Halane residents living in close proximity to the AMISOM base camp.
According to Col. Agaba said the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) had decided to set up mobile clinics to treat residents who normally have difficulties accessing quality healthcare.
The Acting AMISOM Sector 1 Commander, Col. Jackson Kayanja, noted these free medical camps are important as enhance civil-military cooperation, which he noted was crucial in aiding the African Union Mission in Somalia to fulfill its mandate.
