OSINT REPORT: Suspected Al Shabaab militias on Monday evening ambushed Kenya Police Officers who were conducting regular patrols in the highly volatile parts of Garissa.
A gunmen of militias suspected to be Al Shabaab insurgents raid an ambush on police officers who were on a regular patrol. The Monday evening incident left one police officer with serious injuries.

The Islamist group Al Shabaab has carried several attacks in Kenya. Some of the would be attacks have been foiled by the Kenya Special Forces deployed in North Eastern Kenya, a region Intelligence Agency has warned to have active Al Shabaab sleeper cells.

Kenya Security Intelligence Services issued a warning that there might be attacks on civilians, NGOs and Government officers in the North Eastern Kenya and also high probability of an attack in East Coast regions.
Referencing Strategic Intelligence further warning of travelling to those areas by both locals and foreigners – Tourists, NGO staff and Embassy staffers.
National Intelligence Service further warns that these militias are mainly local youths from Coastal regions; Garissa, Wajir and Mandera who might have joined the Al Shabaab posing a great threat as they have an advantage of knowing the areas quite well.

Lack of food, water and funds to finance their terrorism activities is forcing the Islamist group to employ Banditry tactics for survival and the Yumbis ambush by the insurgents was no exemption.
