Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is scheduled to train Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on counter-terrorism tactics.
A team of seven IDF to arrive in Ghana to hold a three-day counter-terrorism training on GAF’s 64 Regiment Special Unit.
This military collaboration between IDF and GAF is championed by the by the Israeli and Ghanaian Chiefs of Defense Staff and Ministers of Defense.
The CT-training is scheduled to begin Monday 3rd September 2018 at the Ghana Armed Forces’ Asutsuare Military Base and end on Wednesday 5th September 2018.
The CT-training is expected to benefit about 25 military commanders. The training will include ranges, Krav maga (an Israeli self-defense and fighting system) and skills for dealing with hostage situation.
The IDF trainers are high-ranked officers drawn from different units and field missions with vast expertise in counter-terrorism tactics.
This training is the second in its nature being conducted by the IDF in the world and the first ever in Africa.
Military cooperation between Ghana and Israel dates back to 1959 when the IDF collaborated with GAF to build GAF’s, Air Force, however, the relations where halted in 1964.
