Military intelligence sources confirm that the Republic of Georgia has sent 140 troops to the Central African Republic.
The army units will boost a European Union military force struggling to quell sectarian violence in the strife-torn country.
“Georgia is providing troops to the EU’s mission in the Central African Republic as part of its responsibility to contribute to global security,” President Giorgi Margvelashvili said.
The 140 Georgian soldiers will join the EU force tasked with pacifying the capital Bangui, Georgia’s defense ministry said in a statement.
