Authorities in Turkey have arrested a French national, Sarah Talib who has been sought by Interpol for being a member of the Islamic State. Talib was arrested in Turkey’s capital Ankara and she has been a member f Daesh and has been issued a red notice by Interpol.
Talib left France to join ISIS and has only been recently attempting to surrender and return to France owing to the fall and decline of ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Counterterrorism police in Ankara arrested Talib as she attempted to make contact with the French embassy.
Sources revealed that Talib was arrested just 200m from the embassy and is set to be deported to France following interrogations that would possibly offer insight into ISIS activities in Turkey and beyond.
The number of defections and pledges by ISIS members especially women and children to return to their countries from the Middle East have been increasing as most of them have been left purposeless and lacking in resources since the decline of ISIS in Iraq and ISIS and as such Talib’s case is one of many.
