The European Union will fund the training of police officers for the land locked West African nation of Mali besides extend training of military troops.
The EU has on Tuesday ratified the deployment of civillian advisers to train and build capacity in the Mali police service in the capital Bamako.
The Union has also extended by two years, the military training program in Mali to help build a disciplined and capable army for the country.
European Union defense ministers met in Luxembourg to discuss and identify raft measures to stabilize Mali after Al-Qaeda militants from the West African deserts routed the army and took over the country.
Stabilizing Mali is an objective that has to be achieved after several years of bloodshed.
EU will send experts to train the police, military, and the Gendarmerie from a Bamako central command office.
