Somali Navy force on February 10, 2019 marked its 54th anniversary since inception.
The Somali Navy celebrated the day citing the efforts, roles, successes and achievements the force has since its inception on 10th February 1965.
Somali military chief, Gen.Dahir Adan Elmi congratulated the forces and thanked them for their commitments to serve the nation.
“I want to extend my gratitude to all the members serving Somali coastal guards. I wish them success in their work all times,” he said.
Despite Somalia being an infamous hub for pirates sometimes back, the horn of Africa took pride of its naval forces. The colorful event was held at Mogadishu’s Sugunto Lido Beach.
Somalia’s Navy over the years has intensified the war against the illegal exploitation of marine resources and weapons smuggling through surveillance patrol maritime boundaries.
