27 Boko Haram terrorists were on Wednesday reportedly killed by Cameroonian army in the country’s far north region, near the Nigerian border.
According to Bouba Dobekreo, a commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Cameroonian forces were prepared for the ambush of the Nigerian based terrorists.
Speaking to media journalist, Dobekreo confirmed 27 Boko Haram terrorists were eliminated in the night of Tuesday and Wednesday near Fotokol located near the border with Nigeria.
During the operation, 10 other militants of the armed terrorist group were arrested and a huge cache of weapons including machine guns, RPGs seized.
Boko Haram which an affiliate of the Middle East based Islamic State has been operating in Nigeria but the Islamist jihadist group has extended its campaigns to the neighbouring West African countries.
Boko Haram insurgency prompted the creation of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) with force contributing countries including Nigeria, Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin.
The aim of creating MNJTF was to eradicate the Nigerian militant group.
Boko Haram terrorist group has been weakened in recent months due to intensified strikes by coalition troops from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon. U.S. and French troops are supporting the regional force.
