
Deadly cache of weapons and explosives were recovered in launched security operations in Bardheere on Friday evening.
On Friday 28th August 2015, Government forces launched a major operation in Gedo’s region recently liberated town of Bardheere where they managed recover cache of weapons and explosives.
In the carefully and executed operations targeted a house in the town where AK-47 rifles, several round of ammunition, hand grenades, improvised explosives (IEDs) reportedly left behind by Al Shabaab were seized.
The government security officials thanked the local residents for providing the intelligence that led to the recovery of the deadly arsenal.
In the operation, several youths suspected to be members of the terror group, Al Shabaab were also arrested for interrogation.
Government forces have been combing the town for Al Shabaab remnants ever since they took over the town a few weeks ago from the militant control.
Local residents have also welcomed the security operations as the right step in elimination of the few elements associated with Al Shabaab in the region.
