Kenya has extended the amnesty period it had granted the already radicalized Muslim youth in Somalia by 14 days after the 10-day amnesty period lapsed on Thursday.
The 10-day amnesty period had been granted to the youth who had been radicalized and joined the Al-Shabaab terror group in Somalia after the April, 2 Garissa Massacre. This was a positive step in hoping to integrate back into the society the youths who have been brainwashed by the religious extremists and wished to return home.
Nkaissery also advised parents and families who have missing children and are suspected to have crossed over to Somalia should report to the police to help track them down.
The CS also warned that those who failed to heed the grace-period would face the full force of the law as they will be termed to condone or to belong to the terrorist organization.
The CS also released numbers and an email through which the radicalized youth could confidential surrender during the extended amnesty period; 0701632432, 0701632443, 0701632643 and infoken247@gmail.com.
