SNA backed by AMISOM forces have confirmed to have killed six Al Qaeda linked militant commanders in Somali’s southern Lower Shabelle region in the recent fighting.
The slain Al-Shabaab members include a high value judge in Janaale town, an explosive specialist, terror group chief trainer and tactician Sheikh Mansur from Kenya. On April 2, AMISOM and allied forces killed another Al-Shabaab commander identified as Abdirashir Bugdube.
U.S. airstrikes have also killed high value Al-Shabaab figures with the latest strike killing Amniyaat operations commander, Hassan Ali Dhore.
Operations in Janaale meant to open main supply and clear improvised explosive devices planted by Al-Shabaab militants. The clearance activities are meant to ease the movement of Somali citizens and their goods.
Janaale which fell under the control of Al-Shabaab after they attacked AMISOM camp manned by Uganda’s UPDF troops has so far liberated. The town lies 75 kilometers (46 miles) southwest of Mogadishu.
Al-Shabaab an affiliate of Al Qaeda terror group continues to wage insurgency in the horn of Africa nation since 2006 in a bid to impose a strict version of Islamic law.
