A terror operative linked to Al-Shabaab was on Sunday killed as he was planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on the road between Bal’ad town where 11 AU soldiers were killed this month.
Military assets from the area reported that the IED expert linked to Al-Shabaab was shot and killed as he burying landmines outside the area Gololey 10km from the town on a major road frequently used by security forces.
Military assets confirmed that the terror operative was carrying a pistol in his pocket.
Al-Shabab has been planting roadside bombs killing government soldiers and recently the terror group targeted Hirshabelle parliamentarians recently along Jowhar and Bal’ad road.
The Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab has increased its campaigns in the southern part of Somalia targeting AU forces and Somali army bases in the country.
