The army men, backed up by artillery units and air force, stormed the Al-Nusra strongholds in the villages of Abu Omar, Sarouj, al-Hasyan farms North of Atshan, Rasm al-Ward and Astablat in Southeastern Idlib, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
Also, the army aircraft pounded movements and positions of Al-Nusra Front in Northern Hama and cut off their supply lines to Southeastern Idlib.
The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that at least 95 terrorists, including 6 field commanders, killed in the army operations in the last four days in Southeastern Idlib and a large number more have been injured.
Credible army reports said on Sunday that the army men engaged in tough battle with the Al-Nusra Front and the Islamic al-Turkistani Islamic Party along al-Mosheirefeh-Atshan and Astablat-Rabi’eh roads in Southeastern Idlib.
Army sources reported that they retreated from several positions under the terrorists’ heavy offensive temporarily.
The sources added that the army men, supported by the Syrian Air Force and army’s artillery and missile units, repelled the attacks.
The terrorist groups suffered heavy casualties in the airstrikes and artillery fire and were forced back again.
A sum of 30 terrorists, including field Commander of Jund al-Malahem Abu Mohammad Sahal, were killed in the failed attacks.
