African Defence Forces have in the past few years shown increased capability and combat prowess. According to Maj Gen Mbadi the joint chief of staff for the African troops under the African Standby Force are not only ready but also prepared to handle any crisis in the African continent.

Maj Gen Wilson Mbadi the Joint Chief of Staff of Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), upon receiving his troops from the African Standby Force (ASF) in South Africa lauded his colleagues saying that they had exuded exemplary results in the Amani Africa II training.
The exercise involved 22 countries with which the military exhibited remarkable skill sin intervention and stability operation and capacity to neutralize conflicts and crisis single handedly without waiting nd or asking help from the international community.
“At no one time have we had an exercise of this magnitude involving over 5000 troops in Africa from military, police and civilian components to check whether we are about to reach full operational capability for intervention and stability operations on our continent without having to wait for assistance from outside the continent,” Mbadi said
The ASF is part of the larger African Security plans that the African continent is putting up in a bid to establish individual stability and crisis/conflict response with the help of region security forces.
This regional security forces include East Africa Standby Force, North African Regional Capacity, Economic Community of West African states Standby Force, Community of Central African States Standby Force and South African development Community Standby Brigade.
The African Union Security Council is deliberating on sending the East African Standby Force to Burundi to help neutralize the crisis which is posing a major threat not only to Burundi but also to the entire volatile Great Lakes Region that erupted in April 2015.
Africa as a continent is putting up measures and plans that will make her military and forces capable of handling any and all crises before they accelerate to become deadly with little or no intervention from the global village.
