More than 200 people including women and children have been abducted and a church mission hospital and shops looted by Islamist extremists during a raid on Boga, Democratic Republic of Congo.
The raid lasted at least three hours with the combatants looting shops, stealing livestock and ransacking the local mission hospital. Further, reports indicate that the Government troops based in Boga were seriously outnumbered by the rebels and that the terrorists seem to have shifted from their usual crude tactics.
The attack is the first by the ADF which is allied with jihadists in Mozambique to comprise the Central Africa province of the Islamic State after being silent for the past few weeks. Intelligence reports have indicated that the group has been recruiting and training fighters in EA and was posing a major threat in the conflict-ridden region. Additionally, the looting spree indicates that the militants need supplies including medical supplies and food for its fighters that would imply a lethal resurgence.
