Shiite groups on Wednesday took to the streets in support of Houthi rebels following the continued airstrike in Yemen by Saudi Arabia.
The protesters who were carrying posters of Yemeni rebel leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi and Iranian General Qasem Sulaimani marched across the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to show their solidarity with the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The protest, which had been organized by two popular groups which have strong ties to Tehran; Iraq’s Badr Brigade and Asaib Ahl al-Haq, comes after Arab leaders launched military campaign against Houthi rebels killing several rebels and a number of civilians.
Iran, which has been strongly supporting the Houthi rebels has vehemently condemned the airstrikes stating that the campaign could have killed changes of coming up with a diplomatic solution towards war in Yemen.
