Washington carried out an airstrike Monday targeting the real Al-Shabaab intelligence chief in Somalia.
An airstrike deep inside Somalia hit targets in Saakow and intelligence resources are currently conducting actual strike damage assessment.
Saakow is a town in the southern Middle Juba (Jubbada Dhexe) region in Somalia. It lies between Bu’ale, Dinsoor and Bardera.
Initial damage assessment confirm no civilians were killed in the airstrike on Monday 28th of December 2014.
Sheikh Mahad Abdikarim also known as Ahmad Abu Ubeidah is the current leader of the Somali terror group. He used to serve as the intelligence chief in 2012-2014 until he took over from Abdi Godane who was killed in an airstrike in September 2014.
