Kenya Defense Forces deployed in Kapendo in Turkana County continue to make inroads against crime in the region.
Soldiers have been able to disarm villagers and criminals often outsourced to conduct cattle rustling and militia attacks against other communities.
Bandits killed 21 police officers in October prompting the deployment of the military in the region to flush out the bandits.
The operation was met by political resistance but the government stood by its word.
Media reports insinuated that military personnel had engaged in excessive use of force but intelligence reports gathered by Strategic Intelligence Service show that elements who served as informants of the bandits posed as threats to the operations.
