Terrorists attempted to blow up a train in China’s far western region capital Xinjiang, intelligence sources report.
An explosion hit a railway station injuring dozens but no fatalities have been confirmed, intelligence source report.
The attack came shortly after Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated government commitment to fight terrorism in the region.
Xinjiang is a resource rich area located on the borders with Islamic Central Asia.
This strategic location of the area makes it prone to militancy.
Terrorism is not very new here since the region has for years experienced violence blamed on Islamist and separatists.
Muslim Uighur people call Xinjiang home but have faced repression by government agencies who crackdown on their religion.
