Somalia’s National Intelligent & Security Agency (NISA) officers ambushed Somali National Army soldiers in lower Shabelle killing dozens of soldiers.
The intelligence officers acting on orders from Gesey Ali Indhole, a senior Somali Military officer.
The friendly fight was reported at Bufow a township in Lower Shabelle.
Intelligence reports show that the Somali National Army soldiers were busy removing road blocks along the roads when the intelligence officers opened fire.
These road blocks were erected illegally and the administration officials from lower Shabelle region directed they be removed.
Gesey Ali Indhole, a high-ranking Somali Federal Government military official gave orders to Intelligence officers from the National Intelligent & Security Agency (NISA) to attack the soldiers removing the roadblocks.
This conflict of interest and leadership may have triggered the attack.
It is not usual for intelligence officers and their units to be deployed for operations that have no impact in neutralizing threats on national security.
