Prime Minister Raila Odinga of Kenya will head negotiations in Ivory Coast.
The African Union appointed the controversial Kenyan Prime Minister on Monday 27th.
Odinga who caused political violence in Kenya by calling for mass actions found favor in the AU.
Odinga’s role in 2007 Kenya political violence is renowned for seeking to destabilize the country through popular.
Last week, the Prime Minister was quoted saying that Ivorian leader Laurent Bgagbo should be ousted using military means.
Bgagbo has been holding power after a November runoff with Mr. Quattara.
Many governments including the US have condemned Mr. Bgagbo.
Raila Odinga is also being blamed for politically assassinating his political opponents come 2012 in Kenya
Riala using his connections with President Barrack Obama forced ICC to cast a net for his political opponents William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta.
At home, there is quiet discontent that Mr. Odinga is a traitor who could sell his own for a penny.
According to intelligence sources and analysts, Mr. Odinga sold out Mr. Ruto his closest ally.
He executed Mr. Kenyatta who is widely seen as the next president of Kenya by naming him as violence mastermind.
Mr. Odinga however has a record as democracy advocate and activist.
He was incarcerated during the Moi regime.
He has vied for presidency and worked closely with President Kibaki.
His appointment to mediate the Ivory Coast problem is seen as an orchestrated move to show that he won the disputed 2007 poll.
It also shows the hand of the United States in swaying African Union decisions.
The US has been clamoring for the Bgagbo exit as leader of Ivory Coast.
The appointment of Mr. Odinga shows that clearly the Kenyan premier enjoys immense support from global political wheeler-dealers keen to see him become the Kenyan leader.
The US also apologized to him over the Wikileaks cables on Kenya
