Eurocopter Southern Africa Limited will soon deliver a twin-engined helicopter to the Kenya police service in Nairobi.
Strategic Intelligence confirms that the Kenya police tendered for twin-engined helicopter from Eurocopter Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd (ESAL) a South African firm formed in 1994.
The company has sold helicopters to the Lesotho Defense Forces, the Botswana Defense Force and the Namibia Police Services according to intelligence reports on its clients across Africa.
The company sold the ill-fated helicopter that claimed the lives of former internal security minister George Saitoti and his deputy Orwa Ojodeh.
The firm helicopter sales outside South Africa are mainly to police departments and related law-enforcement agencies.
Intelligence reports shows significant sales to Kenya where the market is diverse with government agencies including Kenya Wildlife, Kenya Forestry, Kenya Pipeline, plus civilian operators making purchases from Eurocopter Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd (ESAL).
Eurocopter Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd (ESAL) has also confirmed that the Kenya Police Service in Nairobi have issued a tender for a twin-engined helicopter.
