The Islamic State Mozambique province has claimed more attacks in the province of Cabo Delgado (CD) where the group appears to have adopted a more internationally-influenced propaganda mode. The militants released brutal pictures of the attacks in the CD less than a month since the attacks in Mozambique started being credited to Wilayah Mozambiq instead of ISCAP.
The militants announced that they attacked the Christian majority village of Nandole/Nanduli in Ancuabe District, in Cabo Delgado, beheaded a Christian, and burned dozens of Christians’ homes. The militants have been moving in smaller cells that are mostly used for stealth operations which often include killings, looting, and arson before retreating to the foresting.

The recent attacks and propaganda images come as intelligence indicates that the militants have been establishing bases in the forest between Meluco and Macomia districts. The militants have been exploiting their geographical knowledge to evade the allied troops present in the districts. Meluco offers a haven for the militants mainly because of virgin vegetation among others that offer ample camouflage for the establishment of strategic bases for the militancy.
