The Islamic State Central Africa (ISCAP) DRC attacked the villages of Vido and Kisuhi in the locality of Kainama in Beni territory in North Kivu Province. The early morning attack was conducted simultaneously in both villages and mainly targeted the military outposts in the villages. Two people were kidnapped and the military outpost and other houses were set ablaze in the attack which took at least four hours.
The morning attack was followed by an afternoon attack in the village of Kahumo, 4 kilometers from central Kainama. However, the militants by a significant resistance by the military that led to the jihadists fleeing with looted spoils from the attack.
Following the triple attacks in Kainama, the military has been conducting military operations to ensure that the militants do not return as it has become their MO to conduct attacks on localities consecutively to instill fear that leads to residents fleeing leaving villages unoccupied and ready for occupation by the ISCAP militants.
