Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) killed at least ten civilians in Kalembo, the Beni Territory of North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo. the group which has been on a violent campaign in Beni killed the civilians and ransacked looting shops and pharmacies for supplies.
The militants either shot or stabbed to death their victims in the attack that took place at night. Intelligence indicates that houses and a military post were set on fire before the militants made a foray into the village in the Rwenzori sector. The militants have been consistently attacking the Rwenzori sector in the past couple of weeks with the MO being similar.
The group has been seeking to take over the Rwenzori sector as it is projected to give the group a strategic advantage over the military, civilians as well as peacekeepers active in the region. The looting of shops and pharmacies is a clear indicator of two things; first, that the group is rapidly expanding both within its ranks as well as by the number of kidnapped people and, secondly; due to the number of faceoffs with the military the group continues to suffer casualties who require medical supplies and food.
