Puntland Security Forces (PSF) have conducted a security operation in the Bari region of northern Somalia and arrested a number of terror operatives including some senior Al-Shabaab commanders.
Among those arrested included three terror operatives allegedly in charge of assembling improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and planting them especially in the main road between Karin and Galgala which is frequently used by security forces.
During the operation, PSF also seized materials used for making explosives. Security forces captured supplies, camels and donkeys Al-Shabaab possibly used for ferrying weapons and ammunitions.
Local sources reports indicate that the latest PSF operations are aimed at flushing out Al-Shabaab from their hideouts in Puntland, which also is home to the pro-Islamic State faction basically operating in the hard-to-access parts of Bari, a region known for its mountains and treacherous, unpaved routes.
