Somali military forces received a donation of twelve (12) vehicles from the Turkish government as part of bilateral military and financial cooperation deal.
The vehicles which are meant for use over rough terrain will be boost counterterrorism operations for Somali 3rd (Eagle) Infantry Battalion who were the beneficiary.
The donation comes at a time Somalia is struggling with finances to contain Covid-19 and as sustain its military needs. Thus, the vehicles will greatly boost and promote Somali military forces in the fight against the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab fighters in the country.
The Turkish government like other coalition partners have been supporting the Federal government of Somalia in terms of developments and military in an effort to stabilize the Horn of Africa country that has been battling with terrorist insurgency for more than a decade.
Turkey also has built the biggest military in the Somali capital Mogadishu with a capacity to train at least 1,500 Somali soldiers at a time according to the Turkish officials.
