A most wanted Al-Shabaab operative was over the weekend killed in joint military operation conducted in Galkayo.
The terror operative identified as Mohamed Hassan Farah was shot dead by the security forces in the vicinity of Galkayo town. Galkayo is the capital of the north-central Mudug region of Somalia. The city of Galkayo is divided into two administrative areas separated by a distinct boundary, with 3 of the 4 districts governed by the Puntland State and one southern district governed by Galmudug state.
Military sources report that Farah has been linked to many violent activities including the recent death of Mudug Governor, Muse Nur, who was killed in IED attack alongside his four aides.
During the raid, a pistol, five cellphones, and several explosives were recovered from Farah, whose body was displayed for public viewership within the town. Mudug is another troubled region where Al-Shabaab maintains terror activities.
In another separate incident, a senior Al-Shabaab operative surrendered to the Somali government forces in Hiran region, central Somalia.
The operative identified as Bishar Mumin Afrah surrendered to the 52th Division of the SNA carrying with him two AK47 assault rifles and large amounts of ammunition in Buloburte town, about 200km north of Mogadishu.
