Iraqi authorities announced on Tuesday, the killing of a high-ranking Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) during a recent military operation against the terrorist group. He was targeted by an air strike by the international coalition air force in the Syrian area of Deir Al-Zour.
Mu’taz Numan Abdul Nayef Najm Al-Jubouri, the alleged aide to former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and one of the senior members of the terrorist organization – was killed Tuesday.
The militant was also known as Hajji Tayseer had a $5 million bounty on his head. Al-Jubouri had previously overseen bomb-making for al-Baghdadi and jihadists’ activities of ISIS.
Before ISIS emerged from the ranks of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group, Al-Jubouri was a member of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI).
The U.S. State Department announced last year that it was offering bounty rewards of up to $5 million for information leading to the capture of three ISIS terrorist leaders, including Abdul Nayef Najm Al-Jubouri.
Others on U.S. State Department radar include, Amir Muhammad Sa’id Abdal-Rahman al-Mawla, also known as Hajji Abdullah, and Sami Jasim Muhammad al-Jaburi, known as Hajji Hamid.
Muhammad and Najm al-Jaburi are senior members of ISIS, in addition to being legacy fighters of Al-Qaeda. Al-Mawla is also a senior ISIS operative and served as a religious scholar for Al-Qaeda, according to the State agency.
The U.S. State Department, on its Rewards for Justice website, called the reward offer as important in the fight against ISIS saying that as the terrorist group is on the verge of being defeated on the battlefield.
