Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the attack on two government officials in Mogadishu. The two attacks were conducted at two various locations of Somalia’s capital city.
The first attack was targeting an officer from the Somalia Civil Aviation Authority, the officer was gunned by an al Shabaab assailant who fled the scene in Dharkenley. The second attack was against a police officer in the Hodan district and much like the first attack, the assailant is at large.
While assassinations are the preferred mode of attack the Islamic State in Mogadishu, the al Shabaab has been getting desperate and as such attacks on the government officials. Al Shabaab recently vowed to step up its activities especially as the Muslim majority in Somalia observe the holy month of Ramadhan.
