The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Force Commander Lt. Gen. Tigabu Yima toured Baidoa to assess the progress made by joint military operations of AMISOM and Somali National Army troops.
The two-day tour in AMISOM’s sector 3 saw, Lt. Gen. Tigabu receive briefing from field commanders. The Lt. Gen. also held meetings with with AMISOM commanders of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF).
The Lt. Gen. also toured Bardhere Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gedo region, where he interacted with the military officers.
During this tour, Lt. Gen. Tigabu was taking stock of the achievements so far, in operationalising the Concept of Operations (CONOPs) and the Somalia Transition Plan, 2018-2021.
AMISOM Force Commander lauded the Somali National Army and the Ethiopian troops for jointly carrying out operations to secure the area, open up the main supply routes (MSRs), and secure the airport.
Lt. Gen. Tigabu also commended the cordial relations between AMISOM troops and the administration of Bardhere town . He noted that, through enhanced civil-military cooperation the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab have been dislodged from the strategic Bardhere town.
