KENYA
In Kenya, Kitui game reserve and Kora National Reserve is being used to facilitate logistics, resource disbursement, and as a transit point for terrorists. Both are conduit points for Al-Shabaab.
They are not patrolled.
Kiunga-Boni National Reserve which borders Somalia provides the much needed exit and entry points to Somalia.
TANZANIA
Tanzania has been collecting intelligence on terrorists and related activity and recently confirmed that training and logistics points have been established in the country.
Mtwara region and Zanzibar are Al-Shabaab havens with Mtwara serving as terrorist training base.
Terrorists have been training on use of fire arms, how to use explosives and transporting explosives mainly grenades.
UGANDA
The common border with The Democratic Republic of Congo is infested by a coalition of Islamist sects and opposition forces opposed to the Ugandan government who were originally based in Western Uganda.
ADF which operates in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been training Al-Shabaab fighters at its DRC camps and sending them to Somalia since early 2011.
