Islamic State Central Africa Province’s (ISCAP) Allied Democratic Forces have killed close to twenty people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The people were killed in two separate locations in the region which is in the middle of a military offensive against the ADF terrorists.
Seven people were killed and two soldiers injured in the city of Beni, and between three and 14 were killed in Mavete, near Oicha, 30 km (18 miles) away. According to residents, the attacks were conducted by the ADF as a warning to them against collaborating with government forces.
ADF’s association with ISIS has been viewed as a major threat to the East and Great Lakes region in Africa as the group is very crude, has operated in the heavily forested region of both Uganda and DRC. The guerilla nature of the group’s operations has been viewed as a factor that has contributed to its longevity.
