Three IED experts have been brought before a court in Mogadishu for creating and panting car bombs in Somalia’s capital. Mogadishu. The three have since been identified as Abdikariim Mohamed Mohamud Hussein, AbdiQani Ali Mohamud Ali and Ali Muhudin Abshir and to belong to the al Shabaab terror organization.
The first and second suspects were specifically charged for the planting of up to nine improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeting government and AMISOM forces while the third suspect charged for storing the IEDs while pretending to be a tailor in a clothes shop.
The three were all arrested between June and July of this year and are repeat offenders seeing as they are believed to have been trained in the bombmaking trade in Middle Shabelle. The terrorists are awaiting sentencing as SNA and allied African Union troops crackdown on IEDs and Landmines. Explosives have been a preferred mode of attack by al Shabaab and can account for most death caused by the al Qaeda affiliate especially against civilians and security targets.
