The Nigerian Army Troops of 242 Battalion in conjunction with elements of Sector 2 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and Chadian Defense Forces (CDF) have overrun Boko Haram terrorists and killed 15 of them in Borno State.
The troops encountered the terrorists after mounting an ambush at Jigalta Village near Marari, located 27 Kilometers from Monguno in Borno while on a joint clearance operation. The altercation was mounted by at least five gun-trucks and other small arms.
The troops killed at least fifteen Boko Haram jihadists and recovered four Dutshka anti-aircraft guns, 9 AK 47 Rifles and a sizeable cache of ammunition.
The ambush comes as the Nigerian government and allies seek to find alternative and lasting solutions for the Boko Haram menace. The state governments have been exploring community and religious-based outreach to ensure that the group is defeated and prevented from spreading further across the Lake Chad Basin countries.
