Latest Military intelligence reports from Somalia indicate that Somali forces have killed at least 20 Al-Shabaab militants in two separate operations in southern regions of Somalia.
In an operation carried out in Jamame town, southern region of Lower Juba, Somali army forces killed 8 Al-Shabaab fighters in a close battle quarters when the Somali government forces raided the militant’s base. The forces inflicted heavy casualties on the militants in the operation besides destroying the militants’ base, the forces also recovered assortment of weaponry.
According to a spokesperson from the Somali security ministry and internal affairs of Jubbaland, the militants used to plot, and orchestrate attacks targeting on government and allied forces from the raided base.
In another separate raid, Somali government forces killed 12 Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab militants in the outskirts of Hudur town, Bakool region of Somalia. Reports indicate that troops attacked the militants who were extorting money from the nomadic locals. Somali troops drove away the Shebaab fighters in an operation aimed at flushing extremists out of the remaining pockets in south and central regions of Somalia.
