The Unites States Embassy in Khartoum issued a statement clarifying that Former Representative Jim Moran traveled privately to Sudan where he expressed his personal views and that Moran is not a government official of the United States in the matters of foreign affairs. This comes after the American was introduced as a representative of the United States Government, when he spoke in a political rally in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. Moran’s speech had been viewed as United States new position on Sudan
Jim Moran in Sudan gave a 10 minute speech at a pro-TMC rally in East Nile, outside the capital, Khartoum. In Jim Moran’s speech, he claimed he was privileged to have spent several hours with Hemeti, the Deputy Head of the Sudan Transitional Military Council.

The claims of a Hemedti-Moran meeting has elicited interest in Araby and is viewed as repositioning of United States in Sudan after the coup that saw former ruler Bashir step down.
