Kenyan security agencies have called the citizenry to be extra vigilant during the month of Ramadan.
Security has been scaled-up around mapped areas of interest within the capital, Nairobi and in areas near Kenya Somalia border.
Security forces have been deployed to secure Mosques for Muslims to conduct their prayers peacefully and on churches, learning institutions, shopping malls and social joints to avert possible Al-Shabaab attacks during Ramadan period when the militants are known to conduct martyrdom missions.

More security officers have been deployed for enhanced patrols. Kenyans urged to exercise a high degree of vigilance and to report any suspicious persons or activities to authorities for action.
Terror attacks have previously been witnessed in the country during Ramadan. During Ramadan in June 2014, dozens of innocent civilians were killed when Al-Shabaab militants infiltrated Kenya and attacked coastal villages in Lamu and Tana River counties.
The Al-Qaeda-affiliate Al-Shabaab vowed to attack Kenya as retaliatory after the east African nation made a cross-border incursion into Somalia in 2011 to flush out insurgents blamed for kidnappings of tourists at the coast.
