The US military said on May 5 launched a precision airstrike targeting the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab in Somalia, killing at least three militants.
According to US Africa Command, the airstrike was launched in the vicinity of Toratorow in Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia.
The airstrike was conducted in collective self-defense for Somali army troops after they were engaged by Al-Shabab militants during an operation in the region.
BDA indicate that there were no civilians killed on injured in the airstrike.
U.S. continue to degrade and disrupt Al-Shabaab’s plans and network in support of the Federal Government of Somalia. Since the beginning of this year, U.S. has conducted more than 30 airstrikes against the extremist group.
