The German Public Prosecutor General has detained a key recruiter for ISIS in Hamburg following operations in the city. Criminal police units in Hamburg detained the 28-year-old suspect identified as Volkan L.
Investigations found out that Volkan traveled to Syria from Germany in November 2013 to join the terrorist group and received military training there. In March 2014, Volkan L. returned to Germany and started to recruit new Daesh members. In the same year, he organized the transfer of at least one person to the territory controlled by the terror group.
European countries are having to deal with people who fought in radical Islamic groups that are now returning home after major success and seeming defeat of the jihadists in Iraq and Syria. It is believed that these people could stage so-called “lone wolf” attacks, which are particularly hard to predict.
