At least 17 Taliban militants were killed and others wounded in separate airstrikes conducted by coalition forces in Nad-e-Ali and Nahr-e-Saraj districts of Helmand province in Afghanistan.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the first airstrike was carried out at around 0000hrs local time on Sunday, targeting a Taliban compound which left 4 militants dead and another militant wounded.
Further, the statement added that a second airstrike was carried out at around 0200hrs local time in Nahr-e-Saraj district which also targeted a Taliban compound. At least 10 militants were killed and two others were wounded in the second airstrike.
The anti-government armed militants including the Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrikes so far.
The Taliban has been targeted in recent weeks to ensure that the armed militant group doesn’t resurge to take up the vacuum left by the fleeting ISIS in the Middle East.
