Somali security officers have detained a terror operative for planting an improvised explosive device (IED) in Mogadishu’s Dharkeyley district on Thursday mid-day.
Acting on intelligence tip-off, the security officers conducted manhunt in the area swiftly and arrested the operative.
Explosive ordnance disposal team successfully defused the IED and neutralized the threat that was set in a rough road that is frequented by the movement of army troops.
The development follows a day after an IED planted in the road hit vehicle carrying Somali security troops.
The Al-Qaeda armed terrorist group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, Al-Shabaab using a car laden with explosives hit the entrance of popular restaurant next to the Wehliye hotel near Dabka junction in Mogadishu killing 11 innocent Somalis and injuring, 16 others.
Its ironical how Shabaab kills fellow Muslims in Mogadishu but sends condolences to Muslims in New Zealand Christchurch attack.
