Security forces in Somalia have arrested a senior armed group al-Shabaab figure in Mogadishu. The figure, whose name is yet to be released is said to be the head of the armed group Islamic court in Barire, outskirts of Mogadishu.
He was arrested in an intensive operation that involved multi-agency cooperation in the country’s capital. Also, security agencies arrested two suspects from al Shabaab who’s said to be responsible for attacks in the city in recent past. Police said one of the two suspects conducted several assassinations while his colleague facilitated explosive attacks that were meant to harm the civilians.
The arrests are instrumental in dismantling the Mogadishu’s framework of al Shabaab that has been responsible for assassinations and attacks in the country’s capital including an attack earlier in the month on Maka Al-Mukaram street.
