Somali National Army has killed at least 40 al Shabaab fighters who were killed in two bases and positions held by the terror group. Somali National Intelligence Service Agency (NISA) said Somali forces launched offensives against al-Shabaab fighters in Lower Shabelle region.
The attack is said to have taken place in Farsoley Village and they were able to seize to weapons while at the same time killing the terrorist. Intelligence revealed that al-Shabaab had been using to extort taxes from the locals.
The attack comes as intelligence report rising tensions between rival Islamist groups; al Shabaab and ISIS in Somalia that has led to the deaths of dozens of fighters so far. Additionally, US airstrikes have intensified in central Somalia a move that has greatly degraded the militant’s ability to operate seeing as their networks are constantly being destroyed by allied forces efforts.
