In support of the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. continues to conduct airstrikes targeting Al-Shabaab terrorists.
In yet other airstrikes conducted on January 7, 2019, in the Baqdaad, Somalia, the airstrikes killed four (4) Al-Shabaab terrorists and wounded several others.
Another U.S. airstrike conducted on January 8, 2019 in the vicinity of Yaaq Braawe, Bay Region, Somalia, left six (6) Al-Shabaab fighters killed and one of their technical destroyed.
According to U.S. Africa Command, the airstrikes were conducted in collective self-defense of Somali partners after they were engaged by Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab combatants. There were no civilians were injured or killed in these airstrikes, the statement added.
The recent U.S. airstrike in central and southern are aimed at destabilizing and preventing Al-Shabaab from taking advantage of safe havens from which they can build capacity and attack the people of Somalia and neighboring countries.
