Israel’s Shin Bet security service has said that it has thwarted close to 500 terrorist attacks directed at various targets in the country in the past year. Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman revealed the aforementioned statistics as he briefed the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee.
Argaman said that in the past year, the security forces had thwarted 480 attacks, including 219 Hamas squads and prevented 590 lone terrorists. The statistics reveal a very alarming look at the state of security in Israel that has experienced a rather peaceful exterior. Shin Bet has been exploring as many avenues as available to prevent and preempt threats on the domestic security of Israel her insecure neighbors and enemies notwithstanding.
Additionally, the brief revealed that the focus is currently in Judea and Samaria as intelligence reveals that Hamas has been activating terrorist cells in the areas. Israel has been the target of various attacks ranging from cyber to actual violent terrorist attacks mainly because of its alliance with the US and as well as tensions from her Middle Eastern neighbors.
